Résumé:
The present theoretical chapter aims at envisioning how digital technologies can influence heritage
experiences in Europe, in a utopian future, taking a demand perspective on the subject. This conceptual
analysis is informed by triangulating information from (1) scientific articles, (2) practitioners’ viewpoints,
as well as (3) examples of pioneering initiatives from the intersection of tourism, culture, and digital
technologies. The outcome is then merged with the tourist segmentsreported by McKercher and du Cros
(2003) and Fan et al. (2019), to envision three cultural tourist typologies of a utopian future: Cyber
Traveler, Enhanced Traveler, and Creative Traveler. Results highlight plausible motivations and
preferences concerning cultural tourists of the future, whose experience will be affected using digital
technologies, including social media, artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality (AR / VR). The
present chapter closes with theoretical and managerial consideration
