Gregory Mermoud is a Professor of Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and large-scale distributed systems. His research lies at the intersection of machine learning, simulation, software engineering, and data science. He teaches computer networking, machine learning and distributed computing.

Gregory has over a decade of industry experience and he was the first Distinguished Engineer at Cisco to be appointed in the area of AI/ML. In this role, he led the development of four flagship products serving thousands of enterprise customers. Gregory authored more than 200+ U.S. patents and many peer-reviewed papers and monographs.

As an engineering leader, he has built and managed large engineering teams, hiring over 50 engineers at Cisco, including many graduates from HES-SO. Outside of work, Gregory is usually hunting steep single trails on his mountain bike, playing the trumpet with his local band, or hiking to a remote mountain hut with his family.
