Zusammenfassung:
This study explores the impact of the Swiss entrepreneurial ecosystem (EEs) on women entrepreneurs in STEM fields. Through semi-structured interviews with 13 female founders in Switzerland, it identifies the factors that enable and constrain their entrepreneurial activities. In the pre-foundation (inception) phase, a lack of entrepreneurial intention was influenced by the social and cultural environment. However, market demand, opportunity recognition, co-founder(s), family support, and escaping corporate constraints catalyzed venture creation. During the implementation phase, which includes successful establishment and growth (celebration), the founders acknowledged both the benefits and drawbacks of the ecosystem. Initial support was substantial, especially for spin-offs, but diminished as ventures matured. The study emphasizes the need for tailored support mechanisms for women in STEM and highlights the importance of a more inclusive and effective EE. The proposed conceptual framework offers insights into adapting EEs to better support underrepresented groups and promote diversity in innovative entrepreneurship.
