The global spread of COVID-19 has changed the way companies do business. This is especially true for the tourism industry. As a result, the entire community of organizations active in the hospitality industry (including hotels) is being critically impacted by this global pandemic phenomenon. After several months without activity, with cost structures that are quite rigid, and an imminent recession, the hospitality industry (originally one of the most dynamic ones in Switzerland, (Swiss Tourism Federation, report 2019)) is facing one if its greatest challenges in history. Our main goal with this project is to understand why some companies in the same sector are doing better than others. In this multidisciplinary research project, we will tackle this problem from different perspectives.
