Summary:
The objective of this work is to understand the impacts of different organizational variables (perception of autonomy, task requirements, social and organizational support) and psychographic variables (sense of coherence, attitude towards behaviour, subjective norm and perceived behavioural control) on the perception of work-life conflict and intention to leave the profession, on a field of activity where these two spheres are difficult to reconcile: the caregiver. Caregiver needs are calculated by retirements, but also take into account early exits from the profession. The shortage of nursing staff, in connection with the growing demand for care as the population ages, is becoming a major issue in the health sector. Precise figures and serious projections have recently been made public, in particular by researchers from OBSAN (Swiss Health Observatory) who have made it possible to assess the phenomenon. The objective of this communication is to clarify the notion of "leaving the profession" through a literature review, then to propose a methodology and an analytical approach adapted to the specificity of our field. Studies explicitly addressing the intention to leave the profession are rare and do not clearly identify the reasons that lead nurses to leave the profession. We propose to use a mixed methodology: a quantitative study that will explore the data and focus groups to clarify and understand the results obtained by the statistical analyses.
