Quantification de l'émission de gaz soufrés (CS2 et COS) provenant de la dégradation d'accélérateurs de fabrication des "caoutchoucs" entrant en contact avec des produits alimentaires

Description du projet : La fabrication des objets en caoutchouc nécessite des accélérateurs de vulcanisation. A ce jour, on dénombre plus de 50 formulations différentes d'accélérateurs dont plus de 40 sont des composés soufrés. Durant le processus de fabrication, il peut y avoir dégradation de ces accélérateurs avec libération de gaz soufrés de type CS2 et COS ainsi que des amines secondaires. En présence d'agents nitrosant, ces amines libèrent des nitrosamines à caractère carcinogéne reconnu susceptibles de migrer dans le produit alimentaire conditionné.Il est donc nécessaire de disposer d'outil d'investigation permettant de mesurer cette dégradation. Ainsi, pour proposer aux Institutions de la Santé Publique, les bases d'une méthode normalisée, le projet porte sur la quantification des composés soufrés CS2 et COS par trois méthodes analytiques distinctes : * méthode HS-GC-MS, * méthodes PY-MS et PY-FTIR, * méthode par détection d'odeurs, système de capteurs sensoriels : Nez Electronique.

Summary:

In order to respond and adapt packaging to its ever-changing environment, developers must take into account current criteria while integrating new ones. In addition to the primary functions that have been the very essence of packaging such as containment, protection and distribution of a product defined on the basis of criteria such as the characteristics of the product to be packaged, the requirements of the supply chain, regulations…, new criteria are being added to meet the demands of today's society. Then new materials such as biomaterials, paper-based structures; the importance of food waste, the environmental impact, the waste management such as recycling, reuse…, the new consumption modes such as e-commerce, bulk… and the European ambitious regulations are just some of the criteria to be taken into account in order to adapt developing the right packaging in our ever-changing society.

The aim was to define an analytical method based on the static headspace gas chromatography (HS-GC) method with a mass spectrometric detector (MSD) to qualify and quantify residual printing solvents. The quantitations are compared for mono headspace extraction and multi headspace extraction (MHE).

Summary:

An intelligent packaging might, among others, provide information and allow monitoring of the quality of the packed product or its surrounding environment. A recent project on micro-flow wine bottles closed with aluminium screw cap and tightness liner, highlighted the importance of monitoring the internal overpressure continuously, in real-time and for several hours, as the internal pressure on the tightness liner and the micro-flow are related. Real-time and continuously control are not the standard methods of measurement for the overpressure. The most used equipment for the determination of the pressure in wine bottle is the aphrometer, a destructive device that supplies a single value of pressure. This paper describes a new intelligent measurement prototype that permits real-time and continuous control of the headspace pressure in wine bottles. The prototype is composed of two parts. The first part, introduced into the headspace of the bottle, is composed by one low-volume transmitting module (4.5cm3) and one measurement system for the temperature and pressure (7 bar max). The second part (outside of the bottle) is composed of one datareceiving module and one acquisition module. In the first test series, an overpressure is generated inside the bottles with dry ice (that melting increased pressure from 0.5 to 3.0 bar). A linear correlation between the aphrometer results and the prototype results is showed, confirming the correctness of the new device measurements. In the second test series, industrial tests are performed by integrating an industrial conditioning wine production line. The prototypes are installed inside the wine bottles in order to successfully determine the internal overpressures in bottles.

Summary:

One of the roles of a packaging material is to preserve the aromas of the packed product. In order to choose the right material to preserve the aroma, it would be interesting to have the possibility to determine the aroma permeation. To date numerous studies were realized concerning the permeation (or the mass transfer) of an aroma through a synthetic packaging material including the methods of analysis (dynamic or static (manual taking)). The purpose of the present study is to develop an automated and easy to operate analytical method based on an autosampler static headspace feeding a chromatograph with gaseous phase coupled with a mass spectrometer detector (HS-GC-MS) for the determination of the diffusion and permeability coefficients for a couple aroma / synthetic packaging material. To automate this method, a module of automatic piloting and a measure cell conceived from an existing vial were developed. For the validation of the analytical method, the couples composed of an aroma such as limonene and menthone and a volatile organic compound as hexane and a synthetic material such as LDPE, OPP, OPET, OPA, PLA and metallised-PLA were studied. The results got by this method are compared with these one of the gravimetric method and the dynamic method GC-MS by electronic impact. So, the automated method static HS-GC-MS coupled with a module of automatic piloting is adapted for aroma / synthetic material couples presenting a high permeability coefficient.
