In parallel with her work at the architectural practice A Architectes Sàrl, as a founding member and partner, Barbara Tirone has also taught at EPFL, HETS, and HEPIA, across the Bachelor, Master, and Postgraduate programs.
Since 2024, she has been appointed Associate Professor and Head of the Bachelor and Master programs at HEPIA.
Barbara Tirone is regularly invited to serve as an expert juror in academic panels as well as in professional competitions in architecture, engineering, and landscape architecture — both in the private and public sectors.
She is one of the founding members of the Maison de l’Architecture, where she has been a board member and head of the lecture and exhibition program since 2008, and became president in 2019.
Barbara Tirone is also a founding member of the Pavillon Sicli Association, serving as president since 2020. Today, she presides over the Pavillon Sicli Foundation – Architecture and the Built Arts.
She was also an active board member of Pro Natura Geneva.
As a member of the Monuments and Sites Commission of the Canton of Geneva (CMNS) from 2006 to 2024, she has often been invited as an architect to assess projects closely linked to heritage issues.
Since 2019, she has been appointed by the Geneva State Council as a board member of the Fondation Clarté, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Geneva’s architectural heritage.
Since 2020, she has also served as an expert member of the Communal Real Estate Foundation of Lancy, participating on the board and the works commission to oversee the development of housing projects within the municipality.
In 2023, she was invited to join the board of the Fondation Convergences, created by the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG), which opened in June 2023 within the Maison de l’Enfance et de l’Adolescence (MEA).
In 2024, she joined the Fondation pour le Patrimoine Bâti Genevois as a board member
