Irma Cilacian Gandolfi
EPFL SIA Architect
Irma Cilacian Gandolfi is an architect, educator and practitioner. She graduated in Architecture from EPFL in 2000, following her studies in Geneva, and received the BCV Prize in 1998. She began her career at EPFL, working within the Architecture Section and subsequently teaching in design studios until 2009.
In 2006, she co-founded Gandolfi Cilacian Architectes with Matteo Gandolfi. The practice works on architectural projects, the transformation of built heritage, housing, scenography and competitions. Its approach is contextual, attentive to users, the identity of places and the sustainable transformation of the built environment. www.gandolfi-cilacian.ch
Since 2010, she has been teaching at HEAD – Genève in the Interior Architecture programme, where she developed courses focusing on the theory and practice of construction, combining an understanding of construction systems and materials with hands-on application.
Since 2020, she has also been Deputy Head of the SIA Continuing Education Department and Head of SIA inForm for French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino. In this role, she contributes to the strategic development of continuing education programmes and their adaptation to current professional challenges.
She is also involved in various projects and committees focusing on cultural transmission, collective memory and the preservation of architectural heritage.
