Louis Meier is an architect and teaching assistant in the Interior Architecture Department at HEAD – Genève. He graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) in 2025, following a Bachelor’s degree split between Lausanne and ETH Zurich. His work focuses particularly on the transformation of existing buildings and on how the history, traces and uses of a place can serve as starting points for architectural projects.
His diploma project focuses on the transformation of a 1970s administrative building in the centre of Lausanne, which was largely disregarded and facing demolition. The project chooses to preserve the building, seeking to reveal its qualities through strategies of addition, subtraction, and reuse.
His master’s thesis explores the architecture of cinemas, the ways in which space contributes to the cinematic experience and, more broadly, how architecture shapes our perception and experience of a place. Alongside his architectural practice, he regularly works with photography, which also forms part of his design process as a tool for observing and documenting places.
